A Note from Pastor Clancy
I just spoke to Sandra Earixson, AMiA lay missionary to the Diocese of
Rewenzori, assistant to Bishop Patrick, and a friend of mine with whom I've
worked on my visits there. The people of the Diocese are in mourning, and
praying fervently. Sandra is still in shock, but she feels the Lord's
presence strongly amidst all the prayer.
The Bishop's car rolled over after a motorcycle tried to do an
unexpected u-turn in front of it, and the driver, who is also named Patrick,
swerved to avoid it. Bishop Patrick was thrown from the car and died of a
head injury instantly. May he rest in peace. His funeral will be on
Tuesday noon at the Cathedral in Fort Portal, and Archbishop Henry Orombi
will preach.
The driver Patrick is bruised, but okay. Chaplin Moses has a broken femur.
Both were released from hospital. Bishop Patrick's wife, Rose, remains in
hospital with a head injury and whiplash, and is improving. Please pray for
healing and comfort for these three, for the people of the Diocese, and for
Bishop Patrick's three children: Gloria, Nathan and Joy.
Bishop Patrick was a faithful, diligent, selfless, gentle man who loved the
Lord, and testified freely to His saving grace to rescue him from a sinful
life. He was very gracious to me personally. The people of our parish,
Church of the Holy Spirit, came to love him as he visited us just last year.
We join our prayers of thanksgiving with those in Uganda for the brief life
of Patrick+.

Dear Colleagues,
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of the Rt. Rev.
Patrick Kyaligonza, Bishop of Ruwenzori Diocese. He passed away in a motor
accident that occured this morning February 11, 2010 in Fort Portal.
The Bishop was travelling with his wife, Chaplain and Driver to attend a
burial of his relative in Kyenjojo area when their car lost control. The
Bishop passed away on spot while the other three remain in critical
condition.
Rt. Rev. Patrick Kyaligonza was consecrated as Bishop of Ruwenzori Diocese
in February 22, 2009 at St. John's Cathedral, Fort Portal. Prior to his
consecration, he served as Dean of the Cathedral in Fort Portal.
He was married to Rose Kabahita Mujungu with whom they had three (3)
children aged 9, 8 and 3 years.
Burial arrangements will be communicated at the earliest opportunity.
We request prayers for the family of the late Bishop and the entire Diocese.
